With episode 11 out, most people might be aware that the new episode is significantly different from the manga. Here's a comparison the two's content in this post, so for those people who don't want to know about the skipped content, now's the time to leave. Click on the images to see them larger The episode started off with a flashback for Yashiro-sensei, well sort of. All it did was the hamster scene, nothing more unfortunately. The flashback in the manga started off with us finding about Yashiro's violent-minded older brother. When Yashiro was a child, his big brother used to beat him up and physically abuse him. His older brother also had a habit of sexually abusing little girls. He used to use Yashiro to lure little girls to his family's storehouse, and there, Yashiro's brother would do his actions. Yashiro read a story called "A Spider's Thread", which is about a man named Kandata, who committed many sins that he went to hell. However he did do one good deed and was given the chance to come out, but while committing more sins while climbing a spider thread (which is supposedly the way out), he was left to rot in hell. The anime mentioned this story, but they went over it so quick that the whole spider thread thing made no sense at all. A classmate in Yashiro's school bought too many hamsters and Yashiro took the responsibility of taking care of them. However he drowned all of them, only to see one of them survived. He named him "Spice". Yashiro found a thrill in this surviving hamster, so he took care of it. One day, Yashiro's big brother accidentally killed a girl while abusing here. Yashiro at that time could see a spider thread coming out of him (metaphorically). The two hid the girl's body in a box and hid that box in their storehouse. One day Yashiro's parents found the body and called the police. Yashiro's brother, in guilt, hanged himself to death. Thought it wasn't shown, but it was implied that Yashiro was responsible for his mom finding the body because he wanted to cut his brother's "thread". Yashiro later grew up to become a teacher. He used to lure little girls and abuse them. One day, he lured a girl, but he was interrupted by a very young Satoru (probably 3-4 years old). Note that this Satoru moment was shown way before in the manga, but the anime got rid of this scene. Yashiro got engaged to a woman, however the woman suspected that Yashiro is a child murderer. When Yashiro realized that she was suspicious of him, he murdered her and made it look like an accident. That's when Yashiro saw a spider thread come out of him (metaphorically again). That was the end of the flashback. To read the flashback, read Chapter 32. They skipped out Yashiro telling his class about Satoru's coma situation Kenya also used to write letters to Satoru while he was in coma so he can keep up to date once he wakes up. He explains in his letters how Satoru was saved (a woman found him and called for an ambulance). This took up a nice chunk of the manga as it was scattered around during the final third, however these were all skipped in the anime. Some moments were cut out, such as some of the thoughts Satoru had, etc. However, the anime did a pretty good job in adapting the Kayo scene as it wasn't too rushed. Here's where the anime and the manga split apart; when those dude took pictures of Satoru, in the anime it was Yashiro who caught them, but in the manga it was actually Airi. Here's how the manga and anime played out from here Manga: Satoru sees Airi and believes that Airi's the key to his lost memories. If only he talks to Airi, he might regain his memories. Satoru falls unconscious the first time he saw Airi after the coma. While unconscious, Satoru sees a part of his past, a timeline where Kayo and Hiromi are dead. Satoru wakes up and he believes that he needs to find the missing link that connects these memories of different timelines together. He says he must remember "The Town Where Only I am Missing"/"The Town Where Only I am ERASED", which also means Boku dake ga Inai Machi. They skipped that title drop in the anime, and that's unfortunate because it explains how the anime got this title. They skipped a moment from the manga where Satoru's mom says a monologue about the joy she found when Satoru came back (in a motherly way), and this monologue slowly went to Yashiro's point of view and he explains the joy he found when Satoru came back (in a sadistic way). This really showed a lot of character development for Satoru's mom It's hard to explain this, so to read this monologue, read Chapter 37. Kenya and Satoru later talk about the kidnapping/murder case and they guess who might be responsible. One day, Kumi and Satoru were talking and it started to rain. Yashiro gives an umbrella to Kumi then. This is the first time these two characters were supposed to meet, as supposed to the anime, where Kumi already knew Yashiro. Yashiro and Satoru don't meet at all here. Satoru gets a letter from Yuuki, talking about his life. This was skipped. Satoru later goes outside and seaches for Airi throughout the city. When Satoru sees her from far away, he regains his memory. Satoru and Yashiro don't meet until they go to a festival (where the climax happens). It seems like the anime won't do that climax as the climax is supposedly taking place on a rooftop. Anime: Satoru meets Yashiro, and they talk for a while. They become friendly with each other. Satoru tells Yashiro that he regained his memories (somehow), on a rooftop, rather than in a festival. tl;dr: The anime skipped a lot For those who want to read the manga starting from where this episode started, go to chapter 32.
